There’s just something about Litchfield County in the spring. The air smells different. Fresh, earthy, like everything’s waking up after a long winter nap. The hills roll on, dotted with little towns that feel like they are straight from a New England postcard.

If you’re looking for a getaway that hits all the spring vibes, good hikes, spectacular flowing waterfalls, small-town eats, and views that make you want to stare forever, this corner of Connecticut delivers.

🌼 Must-See Spring Scenery & Scenic Drives

Spring in Litchfield is defined by color and flowing water. Make sure these stunning scenic spots are at the top of your list.

  • Laurel Ridge Farm (Litchfield): One of my favorite places to visit in the Spring. It’s private property but open to respectful visitors in the spring, and honestly, it’s worth rearranging your schedule in April just to catch the daffodils in bloom. Thousands of bright yellow, white, and peach flowers spread across the rolling hills; it feels like you're in a fairytale.

    • Where to Find It: Wigwam Rd, Litchfield, CT [Laurel Ridge Daffodils Website]

  • Mohawk Mountain (Cornwall): Save time in your adventure for a drive over to Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall. You can actually drive right up to the summit, and the views stretch out for miles. Perfect for catching sunset, sunrise, or just taking in the quiet.

    • Where to Find It: 20 Mohawk Mountain Rd, Cornwall, CT [Mohawk Mountain Info]

  • Topsmead State Forest (Litchfield): This is the perfect place to take a walk, lay out a blanket, and just hang while you devour your picnic sandwich.

    • Where to Find It: 46 Chase Rd, Litchfield, CT [Topsmead Info]

  • White Memorial Conservation Center (Litchfield): A wonderful place for walking and enjoying the early spring air.

    • Where to Find It: 80 Whitehall Rd, Litchfield, CT [White Memorial Website]

  • Apple Hill Observation Deck (East Morris): Enjoy views of the area, located near Bantam Lake.

    • Where to Find It: East Morris, CT (Note: No exact address; located near 1243 Bantam Lake Rd, Morris, CT)

💧 Chasing Waterfalls: Spring’s Best Show

Let’s be honest, spring is the best time for waterfalls when the water’s really moving!

  • Campbell Falls (Norfolk): Tucked away and beautiful this time of year. It’s one of those spots that feels like a secret—shaded, mossy, and flowing hard after all that snowmelt.

    • Where to Find It: Campbell Falls Rd, Norfolk, CT [Campbell Falls Info]

  • Great Falls (Canaan): For something a little more dramatic, this is one of two must-sees in spring when the water’s really moving! Also known as the "Niagara of CT."

    • Where to Find It: 9A Water St, Canaan, CT

  • Kent Falls (Kent): A beautiful, multi-tiered cascade and the other major must-see waterfall for spring flow.
